America’s favorite cross-dressing granny had no trouble posting bail this weekend as Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail debuted with an impressive $41.1 million, while the cheerleading comedy Fired Up! flamed out in its $6 million premiere. A man is facing copyright charges over illegal video-taping of movies shown at a drive-in cinema in Sydney.

A man has been charged with a string of copyright offences after he was allegedly found recording new-release movies with a video camera at a western Sydney drive-in.

The 26-year-old man was arrested at his home in Broad Street, Prospect at about 4.45pm (AEDT) on Friday, police said.

Police allege that on numerous occasions over the past five months, the man recorded several new release movies at the drive-in. Read More »

Jason’s Back!

Jason’s comeback was so big, it’s scary. Friday the 13th’s $42.2 million haul slashed the competition and box office records this President’s Day weekend as well as becoming the best opening in the franchise’s history. Not bad for a remake that only cost the studio $16 million to make. Friday had no problem frightening away financially-themed newbies Confessions of a Shopaholic and The International, while holdovers He’s Just Not That Into You and Taken were neck and neck behind Jason with $19.6 million and $19.2 million respectively.
